California is an embarrassment of riches. The best National Parks, an epic coast line, amazing world class wine, various cultures and of course the entertainment industry. I recently discovered that Mendocino County has some of the best hidden gems in the State and can easily rank as some of the best places to eat and stay in California. So if you are planning a road trip or a weekend getaway, here are my recommendations of where to eat and sleep in Mendocino California.

Brewery Gulch Inn
The Brewery Gulch Inn is an upscale B & B with a California modern vibe. The recently renovated inn and full room and board options, means you get a lot of bang for the buck. Both breakfast and dinner here are top notch offering higher end cuisine. My room had a ridiculous view of the ocean at any time of day. This place is perfect for honeymooners and couples looking for a sophisticated yet quiet getaway in a hidden gem along the California Coast.
Rooms are modern and bright with a fireplace. I loved getting cozy by the fireplace and getting some work done.The attention to detail is noticeable. The leather seats gave my room a classic feel without being stuffy. I felt lucky to find such a hidden gem that seems to be one of the best places to stay in California.

Little River Inn
This is a classic family owned traditional inn has been in operation since 1939. At Little River Inn, there is a warmth and a familiarity that spreads to every aspect of the property. It’s not only located right across the street from the ocean, but there is a golf course adjacent too. The Little River Inn restaurant is busy so be sure to book in advance.
Instead of heading down to the breakfast room in the main building, I decided to take my breakfast in bed. Breakfast was delivered to my room and set up on the table. With a view of the ocean and a great breakfast, I was ready to enjoy the rest of the day.
Nature lovers and those who want to get outside will love the various walks you can take from the Little River Inn. There is a nice beach on the other side of the road. The trail leading to the beach begins right on the Little River Inn property.

Where to Eat in Mendocino California
North Coast Brewery Taproom
There is no shortage of great food in Mendocino. If you are looking for a place to eat in Mendocino look no further than the Norm Coast Brewery Tap Room in Fort Bragg. I would eat both lunch and dinner at North Coast Brewery if I could! It’s across the street from the Skunk Train terminal in Fort Bragg. This place is honestly one of my favorite new places to eat in Mendocino County California.
The owner has a connection to England so their British style Ales are proper! They pour an excellent pint at the Taproom and the beer is brewed just across the street.
Since I’m on the California Coast, I had to try some seafood. The fish and chips, or in my case Fish and Mash, were spot on! This was one of the best meals of the whole trip to Mendocino. The fish was crisp on the outside and flaky on the inside. The tartar sauce is homemade.
I tried the Stout Float for desert. Since this is a brewery, and one of the best places to eat in California, I wanted to try beer for desert. The ice cream is locally sourced and made. They put one scoop in their stout and I was in heaven. It was super creamy and delicious.
